Original Post April 27th, by Sharlyn Lauby at Mashable, The Social Media Guide

Companies are realizing that people are talking about them whether they like it or not. As a result, they’re deciding whether they should consider having a social media presence, and hence, a policy. A social media policy outlines for employees the corporate guidelines or principles of communicating in the online world.

Building a Successful & Profitable Website

This one day course is offered through Camosun College’s Continuing Education. I haven’t sat in on Michael’s course, but I’ve heard it’s a great session. See advert below.

Many websites just don’t work as well as they could. This informative seminar will help you define the core problems and solutions for your site. Find out what web site strategies really produce results — factors you can implement without any specialized technical knowledge or software, and with little or no monetary investment.

You will learn what to include on your website and why, tips on writing for the Web, how to structure content and how to carry out keyword optimization. Learn to make effective use of the two most powerful promotional channels — search engines and linking.

You will leave with many suggestions to enhance your website. Seminar format — not a hands-on workshop.

Liberated Syndication - podcasting made easy

Posted in Video Blogging on April 27th, 2009 by admin – Be the first to comment

This looks to be a good place to start podcasting.
Podcasting is a means to publish audio and video content to the world via the Internet. Audiences are able to subscribe to their favorite shows and automatically receive the latest episodes in iTunes or similar client. Creating a podcast of your own is almost as easy as listening to one. Grab a mic, record an MP3, get on your soapbox, and let them take it from there!
